PUBLIC GOLF COURSES
Sycamore Community Golf Course - This 18-hole public course
is part of Sycamore Community Park and is located just a mile
away from Sycamore RV Resort.

HIGHER EDUCATION
Northern Illinois
University only 7 miles away. Northern Illinois University
is among the nation’s premier regional public universities, a
comprehensive teaching and research institution with a diverse
and international student body of more than 25,000.

OUTDOOR RECREATION
Great Western Trail - a 17-mile rail trail from Sycamore to
St. Charles. The Great Western Trail crosses small streams and
wetlands where duck, coot and the Great Blue Heron nest and
raise their young. Shrubs, including Dogwood, Blackberry and
Hazelnut mingle with the few remaining patches of native
prairie. It is a place of quiet beauty, a linear wildlife
refuge, and truly one of the finer experiences available in the
area.

AUTO RACING
Sycamore Speedway has been offering stock car and spectator
racing since 1960, with Super Late Model, Late Model, Spectator,
Powder Puff and Compact class events.

CHICAGO
The City
of Chicago offers world-class tours & attractions, shopping,
museums, theatre, dining, and nightlife. The Chicago Loop is
only 60 miles from Sycamore RV Resort.

FESTIVALS & EVENTS
•
Annual Cinco De Mayo Festival (May) - The festival
commemorates the victory of the Mexicans over the French army in
1862. Enjoy carriage rides, food, live entertainment, games fun
and spirits.

• Kishwaukee Valley Art Show (June) - The DeKalb County
Courthouse lawn is filled with arts and crafts, handmade by some
of the Midwest’s most talented artists.

• Sycamore “Turning Back Time” Classic Car Show (July) - Held in
the heart of historic downtown Sycamore the last full weekend in
July. On Saturday, enjoy a classic car cruise parade and a swing
dancing competition. Get out your poodle skirt and slick back
your hair for a 50’s style costume contest and concert by
“Vintage Vinyl.” Over 800 cars on display on Sunday.

Sycamore Steam Power Show & Threshing Bee (August) -
Operational steam engines, old tractors, small utility engines,
and miniature train rides are the featured attractions at this
annual four-day festival.

• DeKalb County Sweet Corn Festival (August) -

Sycamore’s Annual Pumpkin Festival - The lawn of the
courthouse is filled with hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins that
are carved, painted and created by area children. Food, crafts,
contests, fun and more culminate in a gigantic parade through
town. Last full weekend in October.
